How Using Google Adwords Keyword Tool Doubled My CPC

It didn’t take long after I started writing for HubPages that I decided I wanted to try and make a little money in the process.  In order to do this, I started reading all of the free material that I could find on the internet and ran across plenty of good advice.  One of the tools that I now use any time I want to write some content on the internet is the Google Adwords Keyword Tool.  By using this tool, I have more than doubled my CPC so that I am earning more revenue each time someone clicks on the ads that appear next to my content.

Using the Google Adwords Keyword Tool is easy and takes only minutes once you get the hang of it.  You simply type in the keyword that you would like to examine, fill out the spam prevention password and click the button to get keyword ideas.  Make sure when you get the results that you are able to see the column for the average CPC that advertisers pay.

Once you have this information, it is easy to tailor the article that you were planning on writing anyway with the keyword that will provide a reasonable CPC.  Let’s look at an example:

Say that I want to write an article on rose gardens.  When I type in “rose gardens” as my keyword phrase, I find that the CPC that advertisers would pay is $0.64.  But if I instead use “organic rose gardens” as my keyword phrase, I only get a CPC of $0.05.  By using the Google Adwords Tool, I am able to adjust my article slightly by leaving out certain lower paying phrases and including those keyword phrases that might pay better.

I haven’t really changed my topics of interest, but I am now getting more money for each and every ad click than I was just 6 months ago.  It only takes me about 2 minutes to determine what phrases are decent and which ones I want to avoid.  Many times I simply check with the Keyword Tool after I have written my article and go back to make a few small edits.  Clearly, using Google Adwords has been great for my income and overall productivity.
