I Joined a $30,000 Online Income Challenge This Year
By Kidgas
About a month ago, I decided to join with some other bloggers who were having a Challenge to make $30,000 in 2012 through online blogging activities. Most if not all of the bloggers are personal finance bloggers with whom I was already familiar. A couple of them put together this challenge as a friendly competition between them for incentive and decided to open it up to others. They also set up a website for it.
It will be difficult for me to make $2500 per month on average considering that I only made just over $1000 in November and December online. However, by starting at that income level, increasing it slightly each month, adding in earnings from my newest blog as well as HubPages and AdSense, and I think that it will be possible.
Establishing Monthly Targets
It was only after I established these monthly targets with a slight increase each month that I found out it was possible to get to a $30,000 revenue goal this year. It won't be easy by any means. I will need to stay focused and continue to work exceptionally hard if I want to get there.
But breaking it down like that enabled me to see what was possible and necessary each and every month and provided the encouragement that I needed to join the challenge and push myself toward that goal.
January's Targets
So far, I seem to be on target for January. I do need a little more revenue with my blog to hit it, but the pace so far this month seems to be working. My goal was to hit $1100 with Cash Flow Mantra this month, and I am at $751 with about 2 weeks to go.
I also wanted to earn some money with the HubPages Ad Program this month and am well on my way. Within about 5 days, this goal will be met. My increased work on the site seems to have resulted in a higher daily view average for me so I will continue to be adding to my published Hubs on a regular basis throughout the year.
Finally, I had a goal of hitting $25 with AdSense for the month. I have already exceeded that goal and am at $29.90 including over $7 with my newest blog. This has been one of the biggest surprises for me this month. If I can keep up this pace of growth, I might be able to get to the point of getting monthly AdSense checks by the end of this year. That would be great since I have yet to accomplish that feat in almost 3 years of writing online. I think that having my own blogs has been a big help with earning from AdSense and should only get better as traffic increases.
I know that $30,000 for the year is a lofty goal, but having a plan has helped me to realize that it is possible. What are your plans for earning in 2012? Please share below.

Good luck! This is a great idea. (I just want to warn you that it is against the HP ToS to discuss your earnings. You may want to take those totals out. I don't want you to get banned before you reach your goal.) Good luck and keep up the good work!
Best wishes. Hope you manage to reach your goals.
Good luck on your challenge! This is so inspiring. I am sure, that I would like to follow your progress.
Good Goal for 2012! I'll be keeping up with this for sure.
Very lofty goal..my best wishes..
@marriedwithdebt,
Thanks much. I will do the same.
@brittanytodd,
I made some adjustments. Hopefully, it will be OK.
@kikalina and Silwen,
Thank you. I will keep you updated throughout the year.
Good luck! This is exactly the type of challenge I need to look out for as I switch from content and copy writing to a more residual base. I will be following along with your progress.
@agreenworld and pinappu,
Thanks. I will need the good luck.
WHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! $30K would be a dream come true for me...but I'm not able to write in that genre or niche.
Truly....just ten thousand would make me smile from ear to ear.
There's no time like the present to get busy working on it though!
Um, Wow! You did just say $30,000. I would write all day on that price!
@cmahan,
Thanks for the well wishes.
@Wesman Todd Shaw,
There is no doubt that the time to start is now. Time is your friend when it comes to building a residual income.
@Shauntforever,
It is a hefty sum, but the trick is having the discipline to write first and get paid later.
