Impressed by the Earning Potential of the EBay Capsule
74I had tried to become an eBay affiliate almost 2 years ago shortly after starting HubPages, but was not accepted into the program. At that time, it seemed to me, you really had to have your own website to become accepted. Once declined, I never really pursued eBay affiliate income as an option for me on HubPages. Instead, I used Amazon and simply put an Amazon capsule into each of my Hubs. I am not one to write product Hubs, but figured that a little extra income now and then with Amazon wouldn't hurt since the amount of effort was minimal. I managed to earn about $80 last year and got orders in every month of the year which was a first for me.
Added EBay Capsule
But now with the changes that HubPages has undergone following the Google Panda update, it was much easier for me to become an affiliate with eBay. I actually got approved in November and decided to place a few eBay capsules on some of my more popular Hubs. I haven't earned a lot, but I have noticed a steady increase in November, December, and January.
The increase hasn't been substantial and I will be lucky to earn enough to get something out of a snack machine, but I can see some real potential developing. Now that I am planning to spend more time with HubPages in 2012, I think that the eBay capsule could add up to an additional 10% in earnings.

Residual Income
The nice thing for me is that the eBay capsule is nothing but residual and passive income. I simply place it on the Hub and if someone decides to go shopping on eBay, then I earn a little bit from that person clicking over to the eBay site. It is not unlike clicking on an AdSense ad in that sense. The amount of money isn't a lot, but if I can get more traffic to my Hubs through the added effort I plan on spending, then it should continue to increase and could actually end up being quite good.
The key will be to continue to develop traffic over time and to get more exposure to income opportunities. That is why it is so important to start adding eBay capsules to each of my Hubs. I have started to go back and add some starting with the most popular and working my way down. I figure over the next few weeks, I should be able to get eBay capsules added to the majority of my articles on the site.
I still need to read some of the other Hubs on earning with eBay to find out what is working for other Hubbers and to see if there are any tips and tricks that I can pick up. It is often useful to see what works for others and make adjustments in order to maximize one's own income online. I am looking forward to the rest of 2012 to see how this income source develops for me. It will be an interesting year.

thank you very much! voted up and useful and following!!!
I'm using the e-bay capsule for a few months, still no earnings from that. Hope will get my fruit soon. rated up^^
I believe mastering an eBay driven hub writing style can lead to an endless supply of niches. Start with a problem people are trying to find a product to solve by searching Google. Then write a hub with the solution pointing to an Ebay auction. Ebay's logo helps with the click through rate.
I fully agree with you here. I'm in the same boat as Wesman Todd Shaw. No sales but still getting money.
I was under the impression that this year the Amazon capsule was going into a similar effect. Does anyone know if that's true?
I actually just got my first "click" since switching out some of my amazon capsules with Ebay Capsules. I was quite excited to be honest. It is kind of funny... once I gave up and thought "this will never work" I saw activity.
I am noticing a similar pattern. Nothing much to speak of yet, but a steady increase over time with the eBay income.
One nice thing about it is that we get paid even if someone looses a bid. The reason why is that eBay considers it a quality click. The person pushed up the price by bidding, so eBay got more commission from the eventual sale.
I'm adding more and more eBay capsules to my Hubs as I keep going along. It works better than Amazon, for me anyway. But nothing like the other ads from the HP Earnings program. Nevertheless, eBay is a nice little extra, just as you said. Voted up. Nice review.
I haven't earned much from ebay, but they have such a variety of merchandise there, you could find something that relates to almost anything you write about. So I feel that just having that little picture there adds something to my hubs.
Thanks for this Hub Kidgas. Being a technophobe I haven't tried to put ebay onto my hubs yet, but now I may go for it.
You have to check back on them if you want something specific though, when the bidding ends your picture will be replaced with something ebay thinks is similar.

I'm right there with you.
I checked today, and I've had no "winning bids," but the ebay capsule has still added a substantial percentage of earnings into my pay pal account.
