Improve Your Golf Swing with the Medicus Driver
81My Intro to the Medicus Products
Every spring and summer a common ritual occurs across the Midwestern United States. Men and women begin pulling their golf clubs out of the garage and start dusting them off hoping they haven’t lost whatever golf swing they may have had. Many haven’t taken the opportunity to swing for several months. As a result, those first few rounds of the season can be extremely frustrating setting the tone for another mediocre year of golf.
It need not be that way. I was first introduced to the Medicus line of products while on a golf trip in South Carolina this past January. One of the golfers on our trip was swinging the Medicus Dual Hinge 5 Iron. I really didn’t understand it at the time, but he took a few minutes to explain how it worked. I swung it around next to the clubhouse for a few minutes without even hitting any balls and proceeded to have my best day of the trip by about 10 strokes. I even won just over $70 that day compared to the same total for the previous 5 days. It stunk that this occurred on the final day of the trip.
How the Medicus Driver Can Improve Your Golf Swing
The most common swing problem for amateur golfers is the slice with over 80% of new golfers experiencing this result. There are several flaws in the golf swing that will lead to a slice. The Medicus line of products including the Medicus Driver and the Medicus 5 Iron can help cure several of these common flaws. The Medicus Driver will help you improve your swing plane. Most golfers that slice will have a more vertical swing plane that will result in an out-to-in swing path through the striking area. This is also referred to as “swinging over the top”. The out-to-in swing path causes side spin of the golf ball leading to a slice and reducing distance. The Medicus Driver also helps to close the club face at impact and improves the overall tempo of the golf swing again reducing slice and adding distance to your drives.
The principle behind this particular golf swing training aid lies in the two hinges built into the shaft of the club. After your initial set up, if you take the club away too quickly, the hinge will break the shaft. You need to have a nice, smooth take away which will lead to a better, more relaxed tempo. You also need to rotate your forearms properly halfway through the backswing to keep the shaft from breaking. Finally, you need to begin your downswing in the same plane as your backswing without swinging “over the top” or the shaft will break down again. The end result is a smooth, steady swing in a more horizontal swing plane with the appropriate forearm rotation leading to an inside-to-outside swing path without an open club face in the impact zone.
After those few moments of swinging the Medicus 5 Iron, I noticed that my tempo had improved dramatically. I was swinging my clubs in a smoother and more relaxed manner. The end result was that I was able to decrease the amount of my slice and keep the ball in the fairway instead of hitting out of the rough or taking a penalty out of bounds. In fact, I hit 10 out of 14 fairways and those I missed was only by a small amount. Needless to say, I was ecstatic. I haven’t been able to golf as much this summer as I had hoped which is usually the way it is with kids at home. But I do plan on asking for a Medicus for Christmas this year so that if nothing else, I can swing the club in the garage before next year’s South Carolina trip and play better from day one.

Excellent hub. I don't golf but if I did I'm sure I'd try it out :)
This is amazing hub and very good to read.
Kidgas - golf truly is a difficult sport. Thanks for sharing a tool that really does work. If I may add, flexibility (stretching exercises)will add distance and consistancy to the tempo of the golf swing.
if you are hitting a 7-iron 170, you are up there with a lot of pros. A really well struck 7 iron for me is 155 and has been for years. But you are right, it is better to stay consistent with your distances over time.
Great stuff! I am so stoked, recently I have discovered how to hit my driver really straight, it started with hitting my 5 iron and then progressed to the rest of my clubs! Yes eventually!
Hi great hub on a great tool I have tried it before but just a try and it will work fine a friend owns this swing tool and he has a great swing.http://hubpages.com/hub/Hitting-Your-Long-Irons

I have a Medicus dual hinge driver and use it from time to time. It will definately give you feedback on your swing and help you to find your proper tempo.
