Making Money Online: Tips for Finding Time
62I would imagine that most of us are pretty busy with our everyday lives and that finding time for making money online can be quite a chore. If you want to be successful at building passive online income, time is a must. So how do you find the time necessary to work on your goals and online projects when there are so many other things that vie for your attention? Believe me, as a father of 6 who works full-time to support his family, my time is at a premium. How can I find an hour or two each day to work on building my online income stream? Just read these tips that I offer and a few minutes here and a few minutes there can add up to a substantial amount of time and eventual income.
1. Make More Money by Turning Off the TV and Turning On the DVR
I am not saying that you should avoid watching your favorite shows. I am simply saying skip over the commercials. There are only a few shows which I routinely like to watch, but those that I do are always on the DVR. Primarily that’s because I am usually transporting kids back and forth to sports practices and events so I not home when the shows are aired. But, it is a great time saver too! On average, I find that I can watch an hour show in 45 minutes. I can watch a four hour football game in one hour by skipping through huddles and half-time and still be able to discuss the game at work. That is 3 hours per game on the weekend. If you routinely watch 3 hours of TV per week, that is 45 total minutes right there. That is enough time for 2 blog posts for me. Who knows what those posts will earn over the next few years? All for skipping some worthless commercials. Throw in a football game or two, and I have just over 6 hours for working online. The potential income over time is HUGE!
2. Make More Money by Writing During Practice
Those of you with kids will know that you spend a lot of time waiting around for practice to start or end. Why not use that time for writing? I make a habit of having my laptop with me at virtually all times. I can sit and write an article in anywhere from 15-30 minutes if I don’t have to do any research. Use that wasted time wisely. Some of my kids compete in gymnastics. I spend many weekends during the winter months sitting for 4 hours to watch a total of 10 minutes of competition by my child. Sure, I may watch a friend’s child as well. But at a young age, all the routines are the same, and if you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all. That provides plenty of extra time to write a few articles.
3. Make More Money Waiting for Others
How many times have you been to the doctor or dentist only to find that they are running 45 minutes or more behind schedule? Why not use that wasted time to your long term monetary benefit? If you don’t carry a computer with you at all times, you should at least carry a notebook so that you can develop ideas for articles and posts or write out the outline of an article that you can compose later at home. I always make sure that I have something productive with me at all times even if it is simply personal reading material since you never know when you will have to wait on someone else.
4. Make More Money by Writing During Lunch
Do you work for an employer and get designated time for lunch? Write while you eat if you can. Rather than go to the cafeteria and spend money to purchase food, bring your lunch (which will save you plenty of money in the long run) and eat at your desk while writing. It should be easy to put together anywhere from 3 to 5 articles or blog posts in a week just during this time even if you only have 30 minutes.
5. Make More Money by Writing During Your Commutes
I don’t advocate doing anything dangerous like typing on your computer while driving. I spend a lot of time in the car driving back and forth to work and picking up kids. It is during this time that I try to think of my article topics and blog posts. I can get quite a few ideas during the two hours I spend in the car on most weekdays. I will also think about what I want to say so that when I am sitting down to write, I am mostly just typing out what I have already composed in my head.
6. Make More Money by Sleeping Less
I must admit that I have been getting up a little earlier to write and work on developing my online income. I will try to catch up on my sleep on the weekends. Just 30 minutes extra in the morning goes a long way toward building a collection of online work. I will type or build links while eating my breakfast. It seems to work well. Occasionally, I decide to just sleep longer and that’s OK. The potential for extra time is still there the next day no matter how busy my schedule might be. If you are a night owl and work better then, do it.
The bottom line is that most of us have plenty of time during the day when we could squeeze in some more productive work. Just like tracking your spending and finding that little bits of money add up to a lot, little bits of time, 10 minutes here and 10 minutes there, can add up to lots of online income in the future.

You have given some good ideas to help one write more articles. Thanks for the hub.
I am following Ms Chievous -I am a sleepy cat too! Giving up my sleep would only decrease my creativity. Otherwise it sounds like a very good idea to use all that wasted time waiting here and there to write.
I don't have any tips of my own for finding extra time, sorry about that :(
Good luck kidgas.
I agree with you on everything but the sleep! Anything less than 8.5 to 9 hours and my head is mush. The really small computers are fantastic for going everywhere. I've found onsistency is so important, if you ever want to make serious money online. I think I write at least 3500 words a day - 6 to 7 days a week - to make a good living online.
these are simple ideas and very helpful. i will be using some. great!
Six kids? I hope you have at least two wives to help. I have three and it's tough. Two of my kids are talented in pitching so I often watch their games or chat with people in their practice. You must be a very person efficient. I strive to do the same and almost wrote an article similar to yours but did not.
