Making Music with Paper Jamz
66A Paper Jamz Guitar
We bought these things called Paper Jamz for the kids for Christmas and boy are they a blast! We got a guitar and a drum set and have been playing with them daily trying to get better at making music on the freestyle settings. If you haven't heard of Paper Jamz (which I hadn't until recently), they are these very light and thin boxes shaped like a guitar. The drum set is about the size of a large dinner plate with a picture of a drum kit on it. The playing surface is completely flat and you simply use your fingers to play the drums or the guitar.
The guitar came with a booklet showing all the different major and minor chords that can be played on the device. Just goofing around, we can play the opening riff of "Smoke on the Water". We have been working on "Iron Man" by Ozzy Osbourne but part of it gets to be too quick for my limited ability.
The drums sound rather cool as well. Obviously, these electronic toys can be used together and you can make your own music. There are also a few prerecorded songs that you can use to make yourself sound like an immediate experiment. However, we like the Freestyle setting best since you can play around and create your own tunes.
When I was in Wal-Mart the other day, I also noticed that there is an amplifier available. I am not sure what it does since we only have the guitar and drums. The guitar is loud enough on its own so I don't think you need to hook up to it. One of the best features is that there is a plug on the side of the guitar for headphones. My youngest daughter plugged those in and was strumming away. Only she could hear the guitar so I could watch TV in peace. It seems like the designers thought of everything. Be sure to check out the cool video! And be sure to shop for your Paper Jamz guitar and drums at Amazon. As you can see, they are very reasonably priced and a ton of fun even for parents!
