Residual Online Income Report: My AdSense Revenue Per Hub for 2010
68The year 2010 was my first full year of attempting to earn residual income online and so I wanted to provide a full year's report on my Google AdSense income for 2010 so that I could compare my results from year to year. I was able to go to my Google AdSense account and select the HubPages channel so that I could determine exactly how much I made with HubPages over the past year. I found the exercise interesting and was able to look at the number of ad impressions over the course of the year. Fortunately, I did see an upward trend and hope to see a similar trend next year since it is my goal and desire to triple my AdSense income in 2011.
For the entire year, I was able to earn $339.39 from AdSense as a direct result of my Hubs. I am pleased with these results but would like to put more effort into writing and linking in 2011 in order to increase traffic to my Hubs. Right now, I believe lack of traffic is the main reason that my earnings are not where I would like them to be. Granted my topics are not the most interesting but I have seen some of my Hubs generate consistent levels of daily traffic that I feel could be improved upon with a better position in the search results.
If I consider the fact that I have written 173 Hubs total, then my per Hub residual income for the year turns out to be $1.96. I would expect that as these Hubs age, I could see an improvement in that total. I have noticed several articles that start out somewhat slow and will pick up after several months. I can only imagine that the work that I have done over the past 2 or 3 months will begin to yield benefits in the next several months.
I should be able to track my progress as next year progresses by tracking my monthly earnings per article. If I divide the almost $2 annually by 12, I should expect to see 33 cents per article per month on average. Since I have 173 Hubs, then I should expect a monthly income of about $57. Unfortunately, for the month of December, I am only at $55 total for AdSense and that includes other sites such as my blog and Xomba as well. That would suggest that I am behind the pace for residual income for this month if I want to even maintain what I did in 2010 let alone grow income in 2011.
The good news is that I have a target for which to aim and will have to do what I can to continue to drive traffic and use good keyword research to maintain my current level of revenue per ad click. I think I can do it but it will take quite a bit of effort next year. I also think that the effort will have to be consistent. I need to avoid the dry spells for publishing that I had this year and keep up a solid backlinking effort as well.
I am sure there are many others who are able to earn much more than 33 cents per article. I do hope to be able to increase this figure as I write more articles. I have learned quite a bit this year and can see a positive trend. Now it will simply be up to me to keep it moving in the right direction.

Thanks for sharing. You can certainly do it better. :) Good Luck !
Thanks for sharing this. That's pretty close to what I've been averaging per hub per month, but since I don't have many hubs yet it's just a few dollars a month. I feel like the info you're sharing is realistic and reinforces what I've seen others say. It will take time, perserverence, much writing of new hubs and finding ways to create links before income will be substantial.
Fortunately, I love reading and writing hubs and being part of the hubpages community has been an awesome and worthwhile experience.
so interesting... I am hoping one day to get my head around this hahaha - but I'm trying :-)
Great inspiration... I am curious as to what I have made per hub so far... not much because my total income from Adsense is only $14.46... and that is also linked to my xomba account. It's a time and numbers game... if you have the time... you will get the numbers up! Hopefully, this year I have more time so my numbers will fly. My goal, not so much in the income (although extra would be nice) but I want to publish one new hub every single day... maybe two if I am being a rockstar!
Great hub and thanks for the inspiration!
great hub - well done with helpful information.
I've been here about a year, but really, I've only been really working at this for four or five months, and I'm a little bit more than halfway to the first Google check.
I always find your hubs to be very helpful.
Thanks for the post. Sounds like you are on the right track. Thanks for sharing this info. It inspired me to check out my Adsense earnings for HubPages ..... you're doing a much better job than me :-)
Keep up the great work!
Congratulations for you, my friend. I also wait my fifth "check" from google adsense and most of my earning sources from HubPages. I hope 2011 is the best year for us. Just never give and do the best. If we believe and do the job seriously, I believe all the money will follow us...amen. Rating up. Keep on writing. Have a great day!
Prasetio:)
That is a great goal as its mine too. It took me 10 months before I got my first adsense check. Now I get one every month, but mostly due to my wonderful referrals. For 2011 I hope to be able to earn a monthly paycheck from adsense myself ^_^
Best of luck to everyone on their goals!
Good luck I hope that this is a big year for everybody!
I figure I am a long way off then. I am 3.00! Better then 0. Thanks Kidgas for sharing. Best wishes to you!
Just found this...very interesting. Have you posted an update yet!
Hi Kidgas,
Can we get an update on the earnings for the year 2011 ?
Also, whats your take on what hubs are working and what are not.

I'm glad you're actually making money with adsense. Me? Only 30 cents so far but I'm getting the hang of it
